Default Mantle 62 Topps

I was offered this by a client today. When she told me she had a Mantle autograph I was expecting to see a horrible forgery, but this one looked at least somewhat close to being good. I am not close to being an expert on Mantle, so I was hoping to get some other opinions. Thanks in advance.

I am not a Mantle expert by any means, but I agree that it does look good.

What the hell is that thing it is in?

LOL I remember those card cases from the early 1990's. They were f***ed up. The were notorious for creasing cards. Really an ill thought out design & not long for the world...

Case is definitely crappy. I do criminal defense work and I don't seek trades, so having a client plop down a signed Mantle card on my desk was pretty random.

Looks good to me. Looks vintage. It appears to be signed around the same time as this 61. This was signed in person at Fingers Furniture in Houston in 1978.

It's a good autograph, but I hope she brought more than that to the table if she wants representation.

I was a defense attorney for 10 years before I became a civil servant...I would have taken that card over the "nothing" I usually got!!! Depending on criminals to pay your bills was too difficult for me!

Retainers...lol

Try collecting money from people who don't have any (or don't show any). A lot of effort for a worthless judgment.

I do nothing but criminal defense, and business is quite good. Getting paid up front is definitely important, but payment plans make up a large percentage of my income. All fees paid are non-refundable, so either you make your payments or I withdraw and you lose your money and have to hire someone else. I also have an assistant who enjoys doing collections, so that helps too. And fyi, I gave $200 credit for the Mantle card. The rest of my fee was paid in cash.

That was nice seeing you you to go be her credit for the card. I'm not sure how it's fun there, but there are many judges that will not let you remove yourself after filing a certificate of representation. Take care. Jason
