Default Honus Wagner Baseball Magazine print

This one is still in its 1915 BB Mag, so if removed it would be 1/2-3/4" wider. I've seen one of these removed and I know they made them for a few other players (Mathewson?). I thought it was interesting that it's blank-backed and you can see some 'wet sheet transfer', so they must have started off in a pile. Also, it has a sharp edge, as opposed to the rough edges the rest of the magazine pages have.

Anyone else have other players to show?

Thanks, Doug - I thought I'd seen a Matty. The front of my Wagner issue has this at the bottom of the front cover: 'GREAT WAGNER POSTER IN COLORS', so perhaps looking at cover scans can tell us which other players might be out there.

What magazines did these come in?

Mathewson was in the January, and Wagner was in the February, issue of Baseball Magazine in 1915.

The funny thing is that the same Wagner image that is on the insert in February, was on both the front and the back cover in January.

The Matty issue also says "Great Matty Poster in Colors".

The Matty poster was also included in the April issue of the magazine, but only in the "Park Edition", I believe, which as the name implies, was only sold at ballparks.

I'm pretty sure those were the only two inserts.

That's the same artist who did most of the covers during that period - I'm surprised more of his art didn't get used as 'poster' inserts.

Me too. I'll bet it must have been a cost issue with the color page.
