Such great stuff in this thread, as always. My pickups over the last several weeks have been part working on long-term projects, part impulse buys -- The way every month should be

Just the T-227 Rube Marquard to go now for the baseball player run. Bring on the National!

Row 1 -- Tougher "back up-grades"
Row 2 -- ebay pick ups (Burch has been hounding me for quite some time)
Row 3 -- Just when I think Luke can't help me out any more than he has .... he does

Great cards so far everyone. Nice T210 Cowan Portrait Patrick. I say go for one from every Series!

Happy to pick up another Revelle, I wanted a PSA example to go with my set and the front is in better shape than my SGC copy.

Got this nice "companion" piece. It's a printer's proof of an ad for the 1935 Wheaties baseball advertising campaign. The ad was to be placed in a National Grocers magazine. Will look good matted and framed.

Probably overpaid, but very happy with this July pickup. Had been looking for a T227 Cobb for a while, and I really liked the centering and registration on this one. Might have to go for the Baker, Marquard and Bender now also...

I finally made the pre-war plunge!! Mostly because of all the talk on this board.

By far the oldest card I own. Obviously some paper loss on the back, but I'm happy with the overall eye appeal of the front.

Default Matty back

Way to jump in, Rugby!
That paper loss on the back doesn't bother me, it looks as though someone taped (or pasted or something) the card to display it and then it was later removed.
So what...that's what you did with cards as kids!

Too bad that the hobby nails paper loss as bad as it does above most other flaws.
But as a lower grade collector , I don't mind a bit!

That's a great start to a pre-war collection. And that paper loss on the back actually helps, because you get a nice looking Mathewson for a much lower price. Nice going.

Wow, Jon, that's quite a haul.

Obviously Gibson is the best card in the bunch, but how can you not appreciate that Paddy O'Connor pose, eh?

Cheers,

Richard.
