Default Hypothetical situation

Posted By: nbrazil

Let's say a novice collector comes to you and tells you that he/she is going to start collecting pre war cards. He also tells you that he's interested in collecting a set. He has an average income for a collector, has no or very little experience in collecting prewar (but has collected post war) and is concerned not with investment or future returns.

He is interested in a set that is affordable yet aesthetically pleasing. He's also interested in a set that has a good selection of players and truly defines the era of baseball that the cards were produced in. He's looking for a challenging set to build, but given the above you know that he also shouldnt be overwhelmed.

He said he's done some research on the subject and knows that in the pre war era there are tobacco cards and caramel cards (ignore candy cards, bread cards, etc). He wants to know which of the two should he first pursue and what specific set.

You tell him to collect a.) tobacco or b.) caramel.

Why?

You then tell him to collect _____ set.

Why?

thanks in advance for any replies.
