Default Ebay Seller Warning: more_fore_less

Posted By: Scot Reader

I won two M101-4s advertised as "near mint or better" from this ebay seller. Nice front scans; no back scans. The "cards" arrived and were as thin as postage stamps--not on the usual thick M101-4 stock. The backs (and the middles for that matter) had been entirely peeled and the seller admitted this in response to my complaint email. However, the seller stuck to his "no refund" policy despite the callous misrepresentation in the listing. I am not looking for sympathy posts and will not be returning to this thread. I just want board members to know about this seller so they don't get burned like I did.

more_fore_less = less_for_more

Sorry to hear about this. For future reference, "private auctions" usually have something wrong with them, and this seller usually uses that format.

Scot, Sorry to hear you got ripped off. You can dispute it with Ebay and they will arbitrate the dispute with you and the seller. They will put pressure on him to make it right with you. I don't know what you paid for the cards but it is an option you have. If you paid with paypal you can disput thru them also.

It's my experience that Ebay and Paypal are useless when it comes to understanding the type of scams. They just look for certain trigger words and respond with scripted customer service letters.

Has anyone ever tried going after PayPal for failing to live up to their responsibiities? Seems like if they claim to offer security, or even peace of mind, then that creates in them a duty to act.

Caution: IANAL*
