Default Congratulations Larry!

A "white whale" for your collection!? That is a tall order!! How many of the red one that you added do you know about? How did it get to you?

Default Armour

In 20 years only saw 1 red correct l or r version and no l-r versions and I bought the l or r at national about 17 years ago....none of the armour collectors I know had ever seen one...3 months ago an l-r showed up on ebay in bad shape but I missed it ...it was a BIN for 500 I would have bought but a major collector spotted it 1st and jumped on it.....now there was a find of all the rare red varieties
Including 3 that had never been seen before..and there were 10 correct mantles in red 5 of each variety...incredible find ..so I overpaid but it had to be done..I think the market will eat them all within a few weeks...price will probably drop to a little above normal
correct prices around 600....

Very impressive Larry. At one time I contemplated trying to get one of each of the 1955 and 1960 Armour Mantle/Mantel coins. But I thought better about it. I do have three of the misspelled 1955s and of the 1960s and one of each of the correct 1955 varieties, but I don't actively seek any more - I am not up to the task of trying to get one of each. Congratulations on completing a very difficult task.

The back story to this was from a large collection we purchased in Fort Worth Texas. In the collection we bought, there was a box of these 1955 Armour coins that included 200+ including 16 Mickey Mantle's, most being correct spelling. This collection had all the rare variations. Thank you Larry for the information provided and the quick deal.

For anyone else looking for these, we have started to list them on our website www.opcbaseball.com

The rest will be listed on Monday as the help is off for the weekend.
