Default Story on Mike Cuellar's Last Days

Very sad to read about Mike Cuellar being terminally ill.

Mike Cuellar passed away today. For a couple years in he late 60s and early 70s, he was as good as just about any pitcher in baseball, and he helped to form one the greatest rotations ever. Rest in peace ...

I read he didn't have much, if any, money to leave his family. Would have been nice if the Orioles (Angelos) could have helped them out.

Not a surprise that Angelos didn't do anything for him.

That is so sad. You remember watching them play and collect their cards but too many times, once a career ends, there is a depressing chapter that is made aware too late. You see that mostly with post-NFL players who are ignored by the league and their employers and while at one time are able to run through tacklers, can now barely stand up. Very sad story from a great picture I remember.

I'm really starting to feel old...it just doesn't seem right that there are players who were playing when I first started following baseball in the mid-late 70s that are in their 70s.

RIP Mike C.
