Default Wood baseball theme box - Tris Speaker decal bat

Recent pick up from a Michigan estate sale, this is a wooden baseball theme box featuring a decal bat of Tris Speaker and a 1917-1918 NL baseball. The box measures 9-7/8" wide x 6-1/2" deep by 4-1/2" tall. 2 small baseball items inside - glove and a bat. Anyone know anything more about this item?

I can’t really guess at its age or function, but google tells me Phillips head screws were not in use until 1936. The rear hinges look somewhat new…

Lid hinges look modern as opposed to the lid clasp.. may have been repaired?

I got mine at a Garage sale. It will hold cards in loose or in penny sleeves but to small evan for a hard case. Mine has Initials JMP. Picked it up in mid 90's use it to store odds and ends. When I purchased the box I was told it was less than 10 years old.

I never would have guessed those were (at least somewhat) mass produced.

I think you would have seen it was a production item if you had it in your hands. That said some thought and care went into making these. If it was just a little more modern in scale and held Card Savers or PSA cases it would be infinitely more practical and maybe slightly more Valuable.
I remember in the late 80's early 90's that the LS Bat Decals were reproduced and that some creative items were produced and that they were quite attractive. Which is not surprising given how attractive the original LS bat decals are.
