Default Previously unseen pennant

As a Giants collector with over 200 (mostly vintage) pennants, it's rare I see one I've never seen before. Pictured is one such pennant. It's rough, yes, but I had to jump on it. Has anyone seen this same style for another team? Would you think a star player (e.g. Mays) would have gone in the cutout or was it perhaps for a picture of little Johnny or Sally??

the opening is 4.25" x 6"

I seem to remember a Yankee pennant when I was a kid with a team picture inserted in a similar spot though the opening was horizontal rather than vertical. Maybe in the 1960's sometime but I could be totally wrong.

I've seen that pennant as well as a 1962 Giants NL Champs pennant and others but, as you say, those openings are aligned horizontally...

I'm almost certain this is a player pennant from the 1960's. I have never seen a Giants player pennant but I have either seen or have players from the Twins, Packers, North Stars, Angels, A's, Dodgers, Tigers and Cubs. I'm sure there are others out there as well. They were made in Winona, Minnesota during the 1960's through the mid 1970's. The majority of the player pennants you see are Minnesota Twins players.

Definitely a star player or at least a starter's picture would have filled that void.... Mays, McCovey, Hart, Alou, Davenport, Marichal, Perry and the like...

Must've had a very limited production run for so few of these to survive. Doesn't it suck when you have virtually everything? Then you resort to finding pieces literally with holes in them, just to add something new!

Hey Mark. Have you ever seen any Reds players used for these pennants?

VERY similar, I would say! The cutout is exactly the same . I'd still like to seem some others drw11 mentioned.

Albie Pearson, huh? Not proud to say, I had to look him up. Pretty unimpessive stats to win a ROY although he did later lead the league in caught stealings!

P.S. Could you maybe post a pic of the reverse?
