Does anybody know about tango eggs cards. i bought one of hughie jennings it was graded a beckett 5. it looks so much better. what i read on these kinda dont make sence to me. they were so call found few years ago. all ones i see are all graded and owned by different peoiple. i am sure that they were only found by one or a few people. question i am asking is i think these are made up cards by somebody. after all those years and just like that they appear. any input can help me out thanks Do you think there will be any value in them

They are real cards, I believe they all came in one big find, and Jennings and Bescher are the easiest subjects to locate.

Someone can probably fill in more specific details but I believe they were found about 15 years ago. All cards came from 1 family out of Lousianna I believe. Mr. Mint bought the original find and they were then sold through him.

A business customer of mine claims to know a guy who has a Cobb Tango Eggs card here in California, along with many others from the set (over 75 cards total). My customer won't tell me who the person is, but says they might be interested in selling the Cobb. I saw a Ray Morgan card sell on Ebay last week for over $4,700. It was graded SGC50 VE/EX 4. Anyone have either an "educated" or "wild" guess on what a Cobb might be valued at in that condition or better? Thanks to all!!

Brian Daniels is the Expert on these. If I remember right he was one of the first to handle the "discovery" back in the early 90's. The Jennings along with the Bescher are the most common. I believe there are a couple hundred Jennings known, far more than the 20 the price guides have noted. I have handled at least 6-7 different Jennings over the years.

Below is an original SCD ad Mr Mint had printed on June, 12, 1992 right after the discovery. It was a scam, he made the ad just to see what the demand would be on the cards. If I remember right he didnt even own them yet at the time. I called right away and wanted to buy one of each but he said they were all sold.

An unusual note, many think these cards were not known until the hoard was discovered, but back in the late 90s I owned one that was beat up and worn with many creases and rounded corners. I bought it from a lady in Louisiana. I wish I still had it, it proved the cards were out there but extremely rare before the discovery.

The guy in California is Daniels. Do a search, there are many posts on the topic over the years. I believe the Wagner doesnt exist. I have never seen the Cobb, it might or might not exist.

If memory serves Rosen actually DID have the Tango eggs and promptly sold them all to 2 dealers who then filtered them down..

I could be wrong on this one.. But regardlessI would have loved to buy the HOFers at $95 each

i have this jennings graded by beckett it looks so much better then a bvg 5. i was thinking about crossing over but afraid to. i dont want it to come back trimmed. would anyone know the value of this. thanks enjoy day Richie

I think of all the pre-war sets, Tango Eggs are probably the least likely to have been trimmed, simply because the overwhelming majority (I used to think "all", but apparently not) were found in that one uncirculated "hoard." They were in superior condition to begin with.

Thanks for the response. I contacted my customer again. He said that the Cobb he knows about is not owned by the person you metioned, Daniels. If Daniels owns a Cobb, then there must be more than one Tango Eggs Cobb. I am trying to get a piture of the Cobb my customer knows about, but the owner is reluctant to bring this to light at this point. Any further help or recommendations anyone can give is appreciated!

was in very poor condition but I purchased a tinker from Doug Allen in 1986 for $200.There are two Cobbs known an E-106 pose and an E-90 pose. Tony Yordan had one of them in a tin box with the lower pop models I purchased in 1987 in Willow Grove PA. Someone may know or recall Tony,he lived in PR and had a dutch accent and killer cards that all now would be museum pieces.The group Tony had is NOT part of the original letter posted from the family that doug/callows had. Who knows which if any other players tony sold that are pop one but I have a canceled check from him for a Schaeffer I paid $260 for and at the time it was the only one known! The Tinker was placed in a glass frame where you could see both sides of a 17 card (diff) group I sold in about 1995 and the guy referred to above with the probable most complete set has the cards I had in the framed group.Doug can confirm all this even though other stories are said to be the only facts or cards known. I hinted in the Rick Kohl thread that Dan Knowl had 550 of them I purchased and I paid Rick $2500 for the "finders fee" Dan not only paid me back the "fee" but tossed in a Buck Weaver and Murphy that both graded PSA 8! lastly, I still have/kept 40 Tango Egg cards to hatch on the market some day! there were about 840 total as Doug found more after all the hoopla and the family "letter" in the mid-90's. Doug and I placed an add in the SCD together and sold them together for months. Alan Silvers sold about 130 of them for me as well!
