EBay seller Johnboy52077... experiences?
Anybody ever bought any cards from the seller? He has some seriously sharp cards but of course says in his description that he does not guarantee any grades, the graders have all become unreliable, etc. which only makes me more suspicious.

Don't know him, but with phrases like that, and seeing how much money Great Lakes and Battlefield make, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he was well acquainted with an Xacto blade.

His feedback is good....his wording is pretty vague.

Other than every auction being "sharp", "pack fresh", or a great addition to your collection. Most likely the cards are altered or hiding flaws. Hes selling some graded cards and knows hes leaving money on the table if his cards are truly as nice as he presents them.
I would steer clear.

When you see sharp, ungraded cards being sold along side freshly graded...run fast!

He buys and sells graded cards so not sure what he is doing with so much ungraded. I would guess those that look NM-MT are not going to come back as 8s but I have no experience buying from him. Probably wise to not try to get a bargain and just get the card you want in the grade you want.

No experience with him directly but it looks like the raw stuff is priced as though it was graded - high. I don’t know who in their right mind is paying $100+ for a raw Trammell / Molitor Rookie. But then again maybe he’s doing something right because he got over $150 for a raw Henderson rookie. But why pay the price and take the risk?

I have purchased from him without issue - worked with me to bundle three cards but all were graded cards that I purchased. The three (Schmidt Rookie) SGC 88, Brett Rookie BVG 8 and 1968 Aaron SGC 92. I consider all very nice for the grade and am happy to have in my collection.

One of two possibilities. Cards came back EOT or altered, or they came back psa 5's with hidden creases so he cracked. No way these are raw and unsubmitted imo.

Is it me or are those Campanella 54 Bowman cards in his 2 auction a scan of the same card for both? Seems a little fishy to me.

Don’t know the guy.
I am always amazed that people continue to consider buying online, expensive cards that are ungraded. Be smart, pass on whatever ungraded cards you are looking at in this case. |
