Default Simple Auction Site Poll

Taking a poll to determine what percentage of people think Simple Auction Site should remove the feature to see people's max bid.

A friend mentioned to me that simple auctions also allows their clients, password access to each of their client's accounts.

even when you stay at a hotel they offer an in-house safe or the big safe in the lobby to protect you from those that have access to your room.

I'm not comfortable with this revelation and actually find it quite disturbing.

Perhaps this is also kind of like we all felt after the breach at Target.

That would be a HUGE security flaw. I think what it boils down to is that they just don't attract the type of people who have enough knowledge to poke holes in this sort of thing, which if that is true, these types of issues persist today.

I tried to be nice about this. I wanted to evaluate this sort of thing for them and help them improve their software, but I have been met with nothing but irate and rude comments, threatened and accused of wanting to steal his 'intellectual property'. Its quite humorous actually, since all I wanted to do was to help the guy out.

If I wanted to steal his intellectual property I would have just bought the script from him so I can see exactly how all of the features worked, first hand.

Kevin

It's their job to develop the software and provide the various options. It's the auction house's responsibility to decide which software they want to implement.

+1

And to take it a step further it's the bidder’s responsibility to decide if they want to do business with folks who utilize this software.

That is absurd. Even to mention that could be true, that I could, with their help, see another of their customers back-ends to their sites, is so silly I can't believe you even typed this. That would be like Wal-Mart giving Target their customer database. I know Target had their security breach but that is completely different than breaching it knowingly. I really can't believe you could ever think that. It is preposterous. Complete lunacy. Are you ok medically Michael? Btw, I didn't feel anything after the Target breach. So to say "all" of us felt, is not quite true.

Leon, I've been to the Natl now and I've seen some of your "customers back-ends".

I should have been more clear. Sorry. I meant that most of us who use credit cards, probably felt violated, when a major retailer informs the public that there was a major security breach.

Leon, I have always admired your dedicated work at this site and glad that are paths have crossed. If I upset you or offended you, I want to apologize. That was not my intent.

I use credit cards multiple times every day. I use them at Target, Wal-Mart, Loews and all the rest of them. I have never felt violated by their security breaches. I look a little closer at my cc statement, and maybe check up a bit more, but I have never worried about it. I might be in the minority but I actually feel pretty safe and know the cc companies are quite good with making good on fraudulent issues. At least that is my experience. As for upsetting me, it upsets me a little bit when someone I know and respect says something that makes me question that. I am sure it wasn't meant the way I took it. I appreciate your kind words too and hope all is well your way, Micheal.
