1. They (both the minis and full size) are from the same maker
2. The Giants and Dodgers pennants were produced during the same time frame.

Hope this clarifies it.... The pennants Marc showed are all FULL SIZED.
Gotcha.

Sorry for the poor photo, but I was too excited not to post right away. This rare beauty finally showed up today. It’s got some thumbtack holes on the spine and it’s missing a tassel but the graphic is spectacular.

It is amazing that some held their colors so well, while others became faded, toned or bleached out.

I know that direct sunlight and dust will do that. But I think a lot if it was also the different types of felt or cloth they used as well as the different grades of paint.

Great pickups Mike and Jim. I love the Braves pennants from the 40s/50s.

Did anyone see the Satchel Paige that completed at Heritage last night?

https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball-c...kedLots-101116

Sold for $1,500 with juice. I hope someone hear got it.

Default New Content Alert: The Reproduction Co.

I'm happy to announce that this Friday, on Pennant Fever, I'll finally be posting some new material. This month, we'll take a close look at one of the most significant pennant makers of the 20th century: The Reproduction Co., of New York City. I know we've talked about them a bit on this thread, but, up until now, very little was known about the people behind the company; and, equally important: their story.

And, I promise you: it's a good story. Sex. Betrayal. Murder. Well, maybe not all three. But it's a story unlike any other maker we've covered before. So, look for that on Pennant Fever this Black Friday.

In the meantime, I just posted some new content over on Pennant Factory to help get you through the short week ahead. There, right now, you can read all about this pennant....

That Paige is amazing. You know, when I started adding pennants to the list of things I collect, I considered only buying pennants of my team (Yankees) but there are so many beautiful vintage pennants out there and they can sell for big money so I just decided to grab anything vintage if it’s at the right price.

Very much looking forward to both reads, Kyle. This purple guy is Reproduction Co., is it not? Coincidentally, I bid on it and it closed Friday night at Lelands. I didn’t think the hammer price was too outrageous but it was more than I’ll spend on a pennant….probably because, as Bocca told me also on Friday, I’m “cheap.”

I said you had a reputation for being cheap. That’s totally different. How much did the NY Giants sell for?

Rob: That purple guy is indeed a beauty; and, yes, it's one of many early 1910-era professional baseball pennants by Repco known to exist. I promise, you'll see a few more on Friday.

What did it go for??

I was one of the underbidders on that Giants pennant. It's fantastic. The price was fair but like Rob, I couldn't bring myself to go that high.

There's been some amazing pennants for sale lately. I just need everyone to go offline and let me pick some of them up at a good price.

Kyle, I'm looking forward to the new content on your site.

Great picture. It seems as if the white is cloth and the orange and the black are felt. Are there any counter-examples?

Amazing photo but what were they thinking with that black hat with the feather on the right side of the photo.

The Giants had a similar hat, with a more understated feather. They called it the "porky pennant hat." They also had a similar apron which I like more, due to the semi-swearing.

Welcome to the world of pennants, Mike.

I have a 49ers hat that is very similar to the Houston Colts. It's one of those things that is kind of cool, but not the easiest to display.

I could not resist, for the price of about $22, this early HOF pennant with the nice Annin label. The quality is very nice. Relatively heavy felt. Good construction. Wish they made more baseball pennants.

We'll get back to pennants, but here's Prescott Sullivan's "by-line pic" from a 1962 SF Examiner. He's sporting the Porky Pennant Hat ($1.50 in the 1962 merchandise list).

Do you guys think these could be by the same maker? Both are slightly under "full size." There's writing in the lower left of the Sox pennant but JR can't make it out. He said it has some name and a patent number. A patent number? Weird.

P.S. The Giants does also come in blue.

P.P.S. If anyone here gets the Sox pennant, we need to decipher the writing in the lower left.

That Giants batter always messes me up with the hands in the wrong position for a righty. Or maybe he is looking back at the umpire to protest a call.

This one is rather rare. This is only the second example I’ve ever encountered. I purchased it and will donate the duplicate to the Clemente Museum.

I’m not sure who keeps outbidding me on pennants days before the auction ends, but cut it out! Haha! 😆

Nice, Mike! Is the new one an upgrade to the one you had?

A bit of a lull here in the Pennant thread, so just wanted to inject a "short but sweet" video on a rare AAGPBL pennant. There's no crying.... Hope you enjoy!

Grabbed a lot for a nice price off Facebook marketplace. 1960 Pirates with Clemente and the Senators has an original pin affixed to it.

Great stuff.... Some classic mid-century examples there for sure. I especially like the Stadium pennants. Nice score!

Great stuff, Mike!

If you’re new to pennants, you might not know the “ball” on the Cards and Indians pennants is actually the SS logo for Sports Specialties. They were a stadium concessionaire.

The Senators and Braves look to be trimmed at the tips. This is kind of a “no no” but can be overlooked (by some) if the price is right. Maybe they’re not trimmed; maybe it’s the camera angle…

I love how the border around the Pirates picture is a pirate hat and bandana.

I think those tips are just bent, and the downward angle causes the illusion of trimming. Have seen this many times, especially when buying on eBay.

When flattened out, the illusion goes away. I bet if he ironed them or even provided photos of the reverse sides, you'd see a whole different image without this distortion.

The extra cool thing about the Pirates is that all the graphics have a velvet like texture to them. Just like the Collegiate 3D pennants. It still cracks but it isn’t just “paint”. Trench seemed to do this on quite a few 1960-61 picture pennants and at least one logo pennant (Phillies w/cap and orbiting baseball).

Buyer Beware....

Not that anyone here would likely pony up the crazy asking price for this, but be warned that this is almost surely a reproduction pennant, and NOT original...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/14547875566...Bk9SR6aP8YqIYw

The spine and stitching are all wrong for this pennant and it should be oversized (not full sized). Note how the seller's measurements include the tassels. Likely made by Mitchell & Ness, and heavily/artificially aged and weathered to look old.

Stay away!

Interesting and seldom-seen manufacturer tag on this one. Has this company been discussed yet? If anyone knows about R. Worton, I guess it's probably Kyle...
