Default Honus Wagner Cards -- No T206 Please

Posted By: T206Collector

If you've got a Honus Wagner card, I'd like to see it posted here. For those of us who can't afford (or plain don't want to afford) a T206 Wagner, what are our other options? And, I guess E107s need not apply either, but if you really want to show one of those, that would be okay. But please, no T206 Wagners (sorry Hal, I love your card -- we all do -- but this is the Alternative Wagner forum!)

I don't have any of these now; but, I'm sure someone
on the Forum does.....so please show them

They are neat and they contradict the "no Cigarette"
endorsement of Wagner. Tobacco brands are Kotton,
Mino, and Virginia Extra. The latter two backs are
quite rare.

Although there are tobacco cards which depict Wagner like the ones Ted mentioned, the story of not wanting to endorse tobacco as the explanation for the scarcity of the T206 has been verified by a 1912 interview with Wagner in the Sporting News. Perhaps Mino and Kotton were small regional brands he never came across or they simply never asked for his permission.

National Game card...you've seen them all. Oh well:

SGC graded the National Game card quite high--other two, no.

I passed on this card BTW, but was told somebody paid $900 for it. Variant of a w555 I suppose.

Pete, that's a great card - never seen one before. If you know who got it, or if the new owner is reading this, please email me

Ben,

I seem to remember Lew Lipset having a card like this (don't think it was the Wagner) in his last auction or the one before that.

Here is my contribution to the Wagner thread...
