Just wanted to share this one: I've been looking for a nice Exhibit of Joe Hauser for some time and have consistently been outbid on them. I recently picked up an SGC 60 graded one for less than I'd been bidding on raw copies in lower grades. Strange but true how that sometimes happens.

I saw that one and spaced it off. That's the second time recently I screwed up trying to get a Hauser card--the other was a '33 Wheaties. Hope you're done chasing him, next time I'll be more vigilant (hard to less so)

Seeing Joe Hauser's name reminded me... A few years back I wrote him a letter asking about his playing days. I received a nice note back from one of his friends. It reads:

"Dear Chris,
I'm sorry to report to you that my friend, Joe Hauser died in July at 98 years of age. He was a great baseball man and would have been pleased to answer your questions. The records will show that in one year he was second to Babe Ruth in home runs. He was also a teammate of Ty Cobb during his years with the A's in Philadelphia. I knew Joe for over 50 years -- bowled with him over 40 years and helped him with his personal affairs the last few years of his life.
Best of luck to you.
Sincerely,
Frank Zummack"

I thought it was very nice that Mr. Hauser's friend would take the time to write such a nice letter. Says something about the kind of person he must have been.

Just thought I'd share.

Chris

"Dear Chris: You write a nice letter. Be good to your parents. Say your prayers daily, and the Lord will bless you.
Jocko"

yes Adam, same thing happened to me in Mastros ,where I thought that I would pay more for an item. The persistency paid off ,feels good haa???

The ball bounces that way if we can ever accept that we dont always have to have that particular item right away.

I thought these results were kind of bizarre, doouble the price for a trimmed card? and the 10 isn't all that bad.

You just never know how prices are going to go.
