Default Question About "Professional Model" Jerseys and Hats

I often see "professional model" jerseys, hats, and bats of players. Were these professional models only used by the players themselves? Today, you can buy a new jersey exactly like the players use, but I assume back, say 50 years ago, only the players wore these. In particular, Hunt often has professional model jerseys. Sometimes they do not include a LOA and Hunt does not specifically say it was used by fill in the blank player. Is it a fair assumption to assume it was worn by such player?

Thanks
Chris

Yes... this is how Hunt's normally refers to their game-used offerings. The title will usually say "Professional Model".... while in the text of the description, it will typically state the amount of game-usage the item exhibits. It will rarely (if ever) say that the specific player used that piece of equipment.

I think they word it this way to cover themselves legally, as nobody can prove beyond doubt that a vintage bat, cap, jersey, etc. was used in a regular season game by the player in question. This is just Hunt's choice of wording, and does not detract from the desirability of the item in question. I have seen some other auctions use similar "vague" wording as well.

REA used to use similar generic title wording for their GU items.
