Default T210 Series 6 -Question

Posted By: Bill Stone

Other than Casey Stengel does any player who is depicted on a Series 6 T210 card appear on any other baseball card?

Default T210 Series 6 -Question

Fred Toney does...

E120
E121
M101/4
M101/5
W501
W575
some of the D cards
and I think he's on a Helmar stamp

I think the Yeager guy is on E107, C46, and E270, but someone else on here can verify or correct that.

I'll look for others.

Frank.

Default T210 Series 6 -Question

I think that Callahan with the Winchester club may be Nixey Callahan, a pitcher from the 1890s with the Cubs, who converted to an outfielder, a position he played with the White Sox in the 19-teens. Nixey is in T207. Mr. Lipset shows the T210 Callahan to have been in the majors. Nixey Callahan has a gap in his major league records, he's up in 1905, and back up in 1911.

The T210 Callahan was only a .917 fielding shortstop, who hit .310 which was good for 5th best in the Bluegrass League in 1910.

Maybe someone on here will know. I think I'll seek the record from Ray Nemec.

Frank.

Default T210 Series 6 -Question

Jim Viox hit .281 for Lexington in 1910.

He played 5 seasons with the Pirates, hitting .273 in 506 games. He's in M101/4 and M101/5, and some D baking issues.

Can anyone post a Viox Sporting News card?

Default T210 Series 6 -Question

Fred Toney from M101/5 I think, I lack knowledge and experience enough to distinguish the /4s from the /5s.

And Bill, it seems there aren't but half a dozen people on the planet that care about T210 series 6 cards. We could have a convention in a phone booth.

Frank.

Thank you Todd!!!

I'd like to get a Viox. But not like that. Find me one that is G-VG. That is a beautiful card you have.

Frank.

That Fred Toney of mine up there shows him in a Cubs uniform, but the card says Cincinnati.

Toney came up with the Cubs in 1911. Pitched in 34 games in 3 years. Then he joined the Reds in 1915, and pitched in 36 games that year. He joined the Giants in mid 1918. Last year up was 1923 with the Cardinals. In 336 games he posted a 139-102 record, completing 158 of the 271 games he started, 28 of them shutouts. Lifetime ERA of 2.69. Toney was one of the best players depicted in T210 series 6.
