Default 1929 W553 uncataloged variation

Posted By: fkw

Hi, I just picked up a couple cards that are very similar to the rare W553 cards, except they dont have the ornate border. (They are the 2 cards on left in picture, Traynor, Maranville). Like the normal W553's, These cards also use the same pictures as the R316 and W517 sets, and are about the same size, and made from same card stock as the W553's except stock is lighter in color. My question is, Has anyone ever seen/owned any of these unusual uncataloged strip cards before (before David Bryan's small group showed up on eBay a couple weeks back)? They are also slightly similar to the W517-2 "Mini" cards, but not the same. One of the cards even has the name "W553" written in ink on back by an earlier collector. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks Frank

Left to right.........W-Unc.Traynor,......................W-Unc. Maranville,..........................W553 Frisch
