The centering on the 55 Mays is unreal! Super tight, super nice card...wish mine looked like that!

Nice! You are all ready for the 53 Topps thread now. And thanks for the compliment on my new Mays card, I had been looking for one of those for a long time.

That Aaron/Mays card is a great one. They are also together in the '64 set on card #9, which is also an essential card for everyone's Aaron/Mays collection.

With two other SF Giants Hall of Famers to boot!

I have one at PSA right now, and another raw one I bought recently because I missed the one at PSA.

Default I just got my post-War white whale!

James Edward "Pete" Runnels became my favorite player back when I was a Little Leaguer, and when, by chance, I got to play second base (Runnels' position with the Washington Senators at that time) for an exhibition infield demonstration conducted by Runnels, who was assisted by a couple of other Senators, at the Little League stadium in Alexandria, VA. When Runnels told the audience that my pivot and throw to first base to complete a demo double play was perfect, I was on "cloud 9." It broke my heart when Runnels got traded to the Red Sox after the 1957 season, where he won the A.L. batting title in both 1960 and 1962.

Naturally, I'm a Pete Runnels collector, and for more years than I care to remember, my post-War white whale has been a 1953-54 Briggs Meats 2-card panel with Runnels. So, I could hardly believe my eyes when west coast dealer David Levin very recently posted a pic in this Net54 thread - https://www.net54baseball.com/showth...ghlight=briggs - of the eight Briggs 2-card panels, including a panel with Runnels, he had just acquired. Fast forward, I am stoked to have just added this Briggs panel to my collection - thanks, Dave, for the fair price and the fast shipping.

I suppose I'm like most, if not all, collectors in that immediately after acquiring one's white whale, another takes its place. Can anyone help me acquire a complete Jell-O box with a Pete Runnels card (either year - I'm not picky)?

Not as much of a heavy hitter as some recent pickups, but here's an upgrade on my Boog Powell collection. I went to 150+ games at Camden Yards from 2004 - 2013, and Booger was a mainstay at his BBQ joint just beyond the RF bleachers. The line to see him was usually longer than the food line. And he was always so gracious with autographs, pictures, etc...

Just received this card in the mail today and had a good look at it. Happy to report no negative surprises...
I believe it's under graded, IMO, (high-end). Anyways, very happy with the purchase and glad to have it part of my collection.

Great looking card, especially for a 4.5. This goes along with all the talk about how tough SGC has been lately on grades.

In the 'relatively small potatoes' department, I jumped on this one.

Smearing aside, it is an autographed (no reason to believe it's fake) version of the prized 1966 Topps #43 Don Landrum 'partially airbrushed button' variation, so it was just way too cool to pass up. The card had probably just been listed when I ran across it, so using my Spidermanesque reflexes, it took but a nanosecond for the BIN button to be hit...

Picked this up here on the forum. Been eyeing a 65 Mantle for a little while, as I inch ever closer to completing my modest, Mantle run.

A lot of nice pick ups this month! I’m trying to wrap up my 67 set. This set is a beast! I did manage to knock off a couple big boys this month, which I’m pretty stoked about!

You guys make this stuff waaa-aaay too easy...

181. Yukstaposition (Also Ron Tompgrins, Jerry Amuseman, Bill Dene-Hee-Hee, Al Weiscrack or Ron Slay)
How some people try to get laughs by referring to the Johnny Bench, Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, Pete Rose, or Mike Schmidt rookie cards by using one-of-the-other-players-pictured’s names instead.

Picked these up at a postcard/paper show in Omaha over the weekend. There was an Armour packing plant in Omaha back in the day and I'm guessing these walked out the door with an employee back in 1960.

Wow, how many of the coins did you end up getting? Any duplicates?

Wow is right...those coins look brand new and there is a TON of value there! I was shocked to see how much those go for. Nice hoard!

Unfortunately there are only 6 different coins. Fortunately though 3 of those piles are Aaron, Mantle and Banks.
