Actually, depending on how it would fit on a person's face, I suppose it could be a crude homemade catcher's mask. Look at the wear where the person's mouth would be. The question would be if somebody could actually place it on their face and see anything.

The catcher simply strapped a mit around his groin and held this mask with both hands. It also helped develop hip flexibility, among other things.
