Check this auction out, some uneducated buyers? Or am I missing something?

Hi Lee,
Yes, this is the common card of Slow Joe without the "NatL". The bidders are either shills or seriously inexperienced collectors. Besides Doyle "NatL" is only found with a Piedmont 350 back.

Be well Brian

This is the common version.

A PSA 4 version of this card sold for $415 in August. That seems very high to me. The current auction is really dumb.

What is going on out there? I wish they would bid on my auctions.

The underbidder is legit, he even bought the Lipset book.

Sitting here in 6th period writing class I relized if not for me paying way to much for a t206 Joe Dolye about a year ago I would not have found this board, so I guess its not that bad in my case that I over payed, seeing how if I hadn't I may have not have researched it and found the board. Too bad I researched it too late and had already bought the card before relizing I bought the common and not the error card.

If you had not talked me out of using the word "Rare" in my headings on ebay, the last Pattee I sold might have fetched over $100, instead of $51!!! On a more serious note - I was pleased with the $51. This happens on eBay from time to time - cards selling for waaaaaay toooooooo much. I just wished I would list these cards at the right time! Afterall, it isn't worth an extra $50-$60 on one of my auctions to make Lee mad...................or is it!?!?!?!?

I just looked at the final results.
If he's confusing that card with the Slow Joe Doyle league designation error card ...

Griff could be in for some grief.

The Joe Doyle card, the one that looks off balance at the bottom, the one that we refer to as the common one, technically speaking is an error card also.
An error of ommission.
It is apparant that the Doyle league designation error was caught faster than the Magie name spelling error, thus the super scarceness of the Doyle card.
Having set type for a printing press many years ago, I can say that correcting a setting would not have taken very long.
I have no idea why the incorrect Nat'l league designation on the Doyle card wasn't corrected to Amer.
Which was a common practice on the T206 set for cities that had a team in both leagues.
The change would only have taken seconds.
Thus an error of commission, and one of omission.
Two errors anyway you look at it.

It's a known fact that Chesbro thought very highly of Slow Joe, but neither of them would ever think that his card would be the toughest in the T206 set.
