Default Bidding Problems in Mastro

Posted By: BlackSoxFan

For some reason i can't bid in mastro (and haven't been able to for the past couple of days). Has anyone else been given the message that "you are not allowed to bid because of your account status"? I'm not asking how to solve the problem, i'm just asking if anyone else is having the problem.

<EDITED TO ACTUALLY ADD QUESTION>

Regards,

Black Sox Fan

Ted,

Same thing happened to me about a year ago. The explanation was that I had not paid the fee to be allowed to bid in their big auctions, but was allowed to bid in their collector (is that right?) auction.

I paid the $75 or whatever and the problem was fixed.

And don't bid against me -- I will give you first crack at the card(s) I am upgrading

Brian

You just have to have submitted one bid. I've been told it DOES have to be in one of their major (not Collectors) auctions in the last 7 auctions.

I've never paid a catalog fee. I first won some things in their weekly online auctions (remember those?), and have received catalogs since ... I'm sure one reason they charge the fee is that, with $ millions of material, they are only interested in bidders who are serious. If you have won and paid items that is equivilent.

It's a premier auction - not the same as a collector's auction so you're probably not approved yet for the premier one.

I received an e-mail from them that the office was going to be shut down over the long weekend. I think this started at mid-day Wednesday and I would guess that they will be unavailable until Monday. I deleted the e-mail so someone else may be able to give you greater detail as to their near-term hours of office operation.

Well i guess my point is, why run an auction if you are giong to be closed and not available via email or phone? It's not hard to check emails. Kinda irks me as I just want to bid!

Mastro sent an email letting people know their offices would be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday until Monday, but online auction is still available for bidding and perusing. I see no problem with this action.

I did not get the email and I am registered. My father did not receive the email, and he is registered. This is not a consequence of spam blocking or anything. But my point still stands, if you run an auction and go on vacation you don't close shop. I went out of town for two weeks during the C4HR that we are running. While we did have some problems shipping items out (which i take full responsibility for) i made it a point to be available. I wasn't available 24-7 like i am now. But i was in communication with anyone that sent us an email.

Just because you're registered doesn't mean you're approved for the premier auction. It's an entirely different level. Just sit tight for a few days then call them up. You will need hobby references.

and I've never bid on a "major" auction of theirs. I did win a lot in the last CC auction, so I guess that qualified me to get a catalog on this one. LOL because the CC auction is just as expensive as the catalog auction so the criteria shouldn't be any different. I wonder if I can bid in this auction since I got the catalog; haven't tried yet. Everyone stay the heck away from the lot I want! Not that I'm gonna say which it is, so the most prudent practice would be for all of you to stop bidding RIGHT NOW and walk away from the auction
