Default Show your T216s

This is a great set spanning a number of years, full of team changes and Federal Leaguers. I'll start off with the Gibsons and Dooins. Show yours.

This is a great set. Wish I had more. I am trying to learn more about this set but there isn't much info out there.

This set reminds me of E92 in that there are several varieties. I like T216s quite a bit. These all came from the same grouping Goodwin was auctioning...

Default Pop reports

The pop reports are interesting.

PSA only has one listing - 1911-16 Peoples. They don't have a separate listing for the different types, or for Kotton or Mino or VE. They show grades for 68 different cards with 145 total cards graded.

PSA only has one set in their registry. That set has 9 cards.

__________________________________________________ _____________

SGC has a strange way of grading these:

Mino is listed as 1914, with 3 different players and a total of 4 cards graded.

VE is listed as 1914, with 1 card graded.

Peoples Tobacco is shown as 1914 with 7 players and 8 total cards. So, what are they? Kotton? Who knows.

Kotton is listed as 1911-16 with 63 different cards graded and 441 total cards.

SGC has 2 Kotton sets in their registry. One is 81% complete and the other is 3% complete. I wonder how many of each back type is in the set that is 81% complete.
__________________________________________________ _______________

I haven't crossed checked the players from each grading company to see if they combine to show grades for all 74 cards plus the 30 variations that are listed in SCD.

SCD shows the same checklist of 74 cards plus 30 variations for Kotton, Mino, and VE. Has anyone ever seen all of these cards? It is hard for me to believe that all of these cards exist for Mino and VE. They probably don't exist for the thin paper Kotton cards either. Does anyone know if the full sets exist for all 3 types of Kotton backs?

Are there certain Kotton cards that only contain one type of back or do all of the cards come with each of the 3 backs.

Lots of questions about this set. I guess that is why I enjoy working on this set.

Rick

Pete, it is interesting that your Mino back is slabbed as a Kotton.

Yes, I was trying to be positive and not bash SGC. It is really lame when we depend on the grading companies to get it right but they don't have a clue when it comes to some of the more obscure issues. I'll bet they do just fine with the 2011 blue refractors #'d to 100 parallel insert autographed game used 3 color patch card.

These might not bode well for the SGC information as all four are in numerical SGC holders....
And for them to put "thin stock" on the flip is a bit unnecessary as there are no others, other than thin stock. They really should have saved that caveat for the T216-3 Kottons....IMO the VE's are much more scarce than the other T216s.

Sorry to arrive so late on this...just got my t216s today. Really like this Wiltse though - bright colors, blank backed, oversized borders and definitely handcut.... kind of a neat card!

I love me some T216's. I don't have very many, but the few I have are among my favorite cards:

I was thrilled to win the card I wanted most in Leon's auction - this Virginia Extra of Jennings to go with these Kotton and Mino cards of Jennings that I already had. Now, I'm looking for Jennings with the other Kotton back variations, assuming they exist.

Dos for me. I picked up the Speaker over 13 yrs ago, and it was one of the first prewar cards I ever purchased. At the time, I knew nothing about T216 -- I just fell for the image and had to have it.

Leon, Steve & Jerry, thanks for the kind words re my Jennings trifecta. To me, all the T216s presented in this thread are fantastic - congrats to all who have them in their collections! Here are my other two T216 Kotton back-variation type cards, which I'll look to part with if I can ever acquire Jennings with these two back variations. If anyone has one, I'd love to see it, just to confirm its existence.

Thanks Steve and Jerry. Pretty crazy to think Blair has two Speakers as well!

Does anybody know if there might be a Tyrus with a Mino or Virginia Extra reverse anywhere in circulation?

Yoda, there are at least two Mino Cobbs.

If anyone has an extra Young they may be interested in letting go, I may be interested.
