Default Lets see your favorite "Authentic" cards.

Well, in light w similar threads, post your best looking "Authentic" card. SGC, PSA or Raw.

I'll start it w my favorite type card. A slight trim keeps this out of LOFTY STATUS. It is a GORGEOUS CARD.

I don't seem to mind the "A" designation as much as others on this board. I understand the argument against them, but it just doesn't bother me.

Agreed Tyler. That is why I bought the Barger, rather than a stained up one in low grade. For my investment, Id rather have a pretty card, even if it a bit small, or w/e. Your cards look really nice too.

Can't wait for more pics

Default OJ Wright

A close shave on the right border for Harry made this card, notorious for having poor image quality, affordable for me. I will take OJ's like this all day...

One of the first cards I sought out at the beginning of the 2nd round of collecting. I had a 1915 beauty the last time around, but even trimmed, couldn't pass this one up:

Yep, managed to get it crossed over, thank goodness. And the beautiful SGC holder makes the card look the best it possibly could.

Imagine it is 1903.

The very first season for the New York Yankees - and you have a ticket to every game.

The very first World Series!
and you have a ticket to watch Cy Young take it to Honus Wagner & Company as the Red Sox were on their way to being crowned the very first World Series Champs.

Here is one of my favorite "Authentic" cards
a ticket to all of the American League action in 1903....

Default One A, one ?

The genuises at PSA figured out that strip cards are hand cut. Thus Tris gets an A because, well he's badly cut, I guess.

But then why does Prince Hal deserve a grade of 2(MC)? If it's miscut, shouldn't it get an A too?

Default Grading strip cards

Grading strip cards (i.e., and other hand cut cards) is all about minimum size requirements by PSA (and also by SGC). If the cards are cut too close to the inside border like the first card you have, it will never receive anything other than Authentic. If the card does meet the size requirements and does not break into the inside border, then it would receive miscut by PSA due to poor centering which you got on your second. For PSA, in addition to size requirements, the card must still be cut somewhat properly like a "square" card. For example, in the first card below, the card is cut badly. That is why even though it met minimum size, it still got an Authentic. However, the same card is in the second holder after I cleaned up the trimming with some nice scissors. (and I still own the card). SGC tends to be a "little" more lenient with this even though they care about size requirements also. If the card still has good eye appeal, they may still give it a number grade even if the border of the card breaks through the inside border. For an example, see this listing on a Big Head Ruth that slightly breaks into the border on the top left corner. Link (I don't own that card.)

Note that for the cards above, there is no predefined outside border. Since there is no outside border, the cards can vary side to side or up and down. However, for the card below, there is an outside border on three of the sides (except the top). If there is an outside border, the cut must also typically show the outside border in addition to meeting the minimium size requirements. If there is no outside border, then the card just needs to meet the minimium size requirements, not break into the inside border and be somewhat "square."

Default Authentic

The one on the right of course. I thought this one was better than a ragged, beat up Matty that would have cost me the same amount. So I went with the more presentable one.
