I quit on a E90 through E107 type run. I got down to the last couple cards I needed, and it was just painfully a boring time period. I have no patience so if I get down to the last card or two needed, if I cant find them I usually give up. I guess I just have to have my fix every couple days of a package arriving in the mail |

The first set I completed minus 1 was the 1916-1920 Bighead strip cards. It is an impossible set to complete. I then moved on to d304's which were available and fun, but getting really expensive towards the end. The only set I completed and have since upgraded when I get a chance is the d359/e104/t208 set of all images. To me set collecting is not as much fun as collecting a favorite player or buying a card because you like the image. Sometimes it is boring, takes a long time, and some cards in the set just plain suck. Here are a few of my cards from these sets... |

Without a doubt patience is the key but i am sure you knew that. Stick with the E98 set and give it a good year to finish the low grade set and if an upgrade comes along then that will keep you interested in it. Make 2008 your goal to finish. |

I started the long venture of compiling the E90-1 American Caramel set about a year and a half ago and just finished it. Mr. Jackson was the last one needed and thanks to a good friend in the hobby was able to finally come into one at a great price for completion.Got some great deals on most, overpaid on a few, but overall did pretty good. Since my set was put together almost card by card -vs- buying the set already completed, I think I appreciate it much more. Tony

Not counting Post War, where I am still working on a half dozen oddball Topps sets, I am only working on one major Pre War set right now: The Monster. |

I have been a type card collector since day 1 of collecting as an adult, about 10-11 yrs ago. I was very fortunate to pick up some toughies to get to the point of only needing less than a handful to complete my set of ACC cards Pre-1950, minus cabinets, which I have not really delved into. Since I am a back collector too, I have almost completed most of those iterations within each set....T201,T202,T203,T204,T205, Not T206, T207........Back collecting has been a lot of fun while mixed in with the type cards. After acquiring Lew's personal holdings of E94 overprints in one of his auctions, and the one uniquely known one from a board member (with the help of 2 others) and with the help of David Bryan, I finished those overprints. Now I am going for the D303 master set and sort of the Big Heads set....I haven't really given up on anything yet.....I just hang out and try to be patient. Collecting the D303's has got me accustomed to paying a lot for stuff I don't really care about, so I at least know that feeling . Happy collecting..... |

I started the Canadian Goudey set. I have most of the expensive ones, so the rest shouldn't be too many $$. I started it because it is a fairly small set that I thought I could finish. |

Well in about 2 years I have gotten to 1 card away from a 1915 cracker jack set with an average grade of VG. I need a cobb and am just too short on cash right now to make it happen before the end of the year |

Not prewar...but I was halfway to completing '52 Topps, but I'm now starting to sell-off. Too expensive to finish and my guess is that it is now overpriced. |
