Default Should I pick up these T212 Obaks?

Hi Gang:

Been decades since I dabbled in T sets. I have the chance to pick up the four T212 Obaks shown below. I have no idea of current collectibility of these. If I do obtain them I will be looking to move them.

Looking for guidance. Should I pick these up or is there no interest in this set or these cards in their condition.

TIA for your help.

Looking forward to replies/PM's

Hey Fred,

In that condition I wouldn't want to spend more than $20 apiece, but then I am notoriously cheap, so others may disagree.

Better than $20 each in my opinion but not way more. They all have problems and would grade 1’s. Not much of a market for them. To a collector, yes, but to a flipper, no,

Despite the writing and back damage, these all have great color and overall eye appeal. Lately I have seen less attractive examples from 1910 and 1911 with creasing and soiling go for 2 to 3x of that $20 amount. I imagine some collectors would jump on them as a chance to get some lookers at a decent price.

This is about the shape I can afford for Obak. If it helps I l’ve typically paid about $40 per card for ones like this. If they are priced far lower than that, it’s not a bad deal. If priced higher I’d stay away.

I am with both these posts. I am also cheap like Scott and try to get them for around $20-$25. Like Jason I will pay up to $40-$50 for ones that condition if I am looking for that player.

Obaks are cool, if you like the cards buy them. You're not making any significant profit on flipping Obaks though.
