Default c1930 Chris-Craft Factory Photo Book - 100 + Photos - c1912-1930 Powerboat Racing

The neatest thing about collecting so wide a swath of sports...from billiards to mountain climbing...is there is always something popping...Over the last year I've gotten big into powerboat racing...If anyone has any 1910-1930 powerboat items please contact me...I'm especially looking for an early poster for the Detroit Gold Cup race...(also looking for motorcycle panoramas)

Please know I've posted a new feature on my site on a c1930 Chris-Craft factory to dealer photo book, link above...with 105 photos and 16 letters on company stationery. My theory is people should be able to enjoy these rare photos...So I've photographed all of them and posted them in the same order as they are in the book on three pages...along with the photos are close ups of the company letters so you really get an inside look at the company...Also there are many photos of inside the factory showing the boats being built...Plus some of the earliest speed boats that founder Chris Smith built...

Before Chris Smith started Chris-Craft he started out with a small company in 1910 called The Smith-Ryan Boat Company in Algonac Michigan on the St. Clair River...then in 1915 Gar Wood who would later become known as the Speed Boat King, bought Smith's business...Between 1910 and 1915 Smith built some of the first racing powerboats...After Gar Wood bought him out Smith worked for Wood building the boats that made him famous...Later Smith would leave and start his own business called Chris Smith and Son's...then in 1924 they changed the name to Chris-Craft...

Below just a few shots of the more than 100 you'll see...hope you enjoy the feature...Thanks Leon for the bandstand!
