Default Vintage card set trivia

As most people on the board know, I collect only catcher cards.

Which prewar set (1900-1920) has the highest percentage of catchers represented in the set?

Should be a easy one for most prewar collectors.

Default Pure guess

I'll offer the "anonymous 30" set as the answer. Not even sure what catchers are in it.

Default Hint regarding set with the highest percent of catchers represented

Hint: If my calculations are correct, 46 percent of this set has a catcher represented on a card.

I would assume T200 Fatima Team Cards has 100% catchers on them.

My guess is E102. I am tempted to try and figure it out, but I am not motivated to do it.

Default Clever answer

Mr Gross,

Clever answer.

Looking for a set that isn't a team card set!

What about t202? Bergen, Needham, McLean are duplicated quite a bit and If you count the center panels I'm sure it could add up.

Default Another great response

That's another great response.

I have never considered the action photos as on the Triple Folders as player cards, but I guess they could be considered that way. This set is pretty close to the set I was thinking about. I believe about 41 percent of the Triple Folders have a catcher on one of the end panels.

Fun fact: Chief Meyers shows up on the most T202s. He's on 10 different T202s. I have 5 of the ten currently.

Great response,

Patrick

Default Imperial?

I never counted them, but there are a lot of catchers in C46.
If it's not that one, the 1910 OBAK set has a bunch too.
Cool question and since I am not going to count, I'll look forward to the "reveal"

Default C46 Imperial Tobacco

Brian,

I put a set of the 12 catchers in the C46 set together a few years back. It was a fun project to find nice examples. Only 12 catchers in the 90 card set.

Thanks,

Patrick

Default T201 Mecca Double Folders

Not counting team cards, I believe the Mecca Double Folders set has the highest percentage of catchers with 23 of 50 cards having a catcher represented.

I believe T202s are a close 2nd.

There are quite a few catchers in the T210 set as well.

Default T201

Catchers on T201 cards make perfect sense...fold it over and you've got a guy crouching.

Fun thread and neat way to look at these sets. I have a T206 with two catchers on it (that is part of the outline of Ira Thomas on the left).

Default That's an awesome Chief Meyers T206

Bryan,

Thanks for sharing!

That's an awesome Chief Meyers T206. He's one of my favorite players to collect.
