Default Man who caught Maris' 61st returns to Bronx

Interesting story. Anyone ever come across a "Maris, Stallard and Durante" signed ball?

I know of only one signed by all three (and owned it for a time). Apparently, the trio signed a few of these balls (OAL Cronin) which were given away as prizes at the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle. You would think that someone would have done a show with both Maris and Stallard, but the only other ball I've seen to feature "both" signatures had a phony Maris (on a Bobby Brown ball, too--not too many genuine Maris signatures floating around on Brown balls). I was sorely disappointed at the pittance the item fetched at auction.

Edit: Just read that the World's Fair story is actually mentioned in the article! Until now, I just had the original owner's story to go on.

What the hell has the new stadium to do with Maris' feat, or Durante's catch?
They should have taken him to the lot next door, and apologized for tearing the Stadium down.

Not sure if any of you are members of Sports Collectors Net, but a member over there is friends with Sal. Last summer he set up a private signing with Sal, and the prices on the message board search function have been taken down, but it was quite cheap from what I can remember. I am pretty sure it was something like $5 a flat or ball.

He is supposedly a good TTMer as well, but SCN doesnt have an address listed for him.

I sent two custom cards to be signed by Mr Durante for that signing.

Semi-related topic: The Heritage April Signature auction will feature what is believed to be the only other game used ball from Maris' 61st HR game:
