Default Stamps on the back of T206's

Posted By: Robert

I have noticed that a few of my T206 cards have stamps on the back of them " Richard Montague" and "Robert Walton JR.". I am sure that these where probable done by previous owners of the cards. It would be kind of interesting to find out about these old owners and when they actually had the cards. Some people think that it distracts from the card but to me it enhances the history of the card. Does anyone have the same names stamped on the backs of their cards and do any of you know these people?

I also find stamps and other types of notations on the back of cards intriguing. I have a few T206's and caramels with stamps and a T205 Lefty Leifield with a note and address written on the reverse in fountain pen.

Not the same names, but still interesting. On the back of a 1928 exhibit:

i have 3 old judges with stamps on the back. two of them have "W.VAN PATTENMO. V" on the back. the other one is very hard to read, most of it is gone, but says

"PP PET ?? ??????
MO. VA? ?? ?? IA
P.O. BOX 815."

these stamps have always made me a little curious about their travels before they came to me.

Default Stamps on the back of T206's

I’m now the proud owner of two from the Howe McCormick T206 set.

The first (the G. Davis/Hindu back) came from Wayne Varner’s Shoebox Cards in Zelienolpe, PA in either 1991 or ‘92. The second came last night on eBay from Mark Channing in Seabrook,TX. I’d like to complete the entire set, but don’t know how many more Howe might have had.

The USPS zip code site says there is either a north or south Main St. in Gainesville; no east or west. A Goggle search of his name reveals only one hit that seems to fit the time frame. It comes from a website labeled The Porters and says only “Vivien ROBINSON (1898-1979) married Howe McCORMICK (Gallopolis OH).”

Howe McCormick ... the original Mr. X.

I have actual 37 cent stamps on alot of my t206s because thats how Scott Forrest used to mail stuff to me.He once ruined a drum back on me because i asked for insurance, damn sticker took up the whole back so he wrote the address on the front

S.A.S.E. has a different meaning Georgia. Its apparently a checklist he uses

Stamp
Address
Send
Enjoy

When i asked him what he did with the SASE i sent he said he threw it out because it was empty.Live and learn

Default Stamps on the back of T206's

I no longer have any full name stamps in my coolection but I have a G W T, on a McGinnity, around stamp that might be a boys town stamp that bled too much, a few with position and year written and one that has 2 different date stamps on it (seems odd to me). I have had a few stamped with names or dates but seem to have sold them.

I have one with a price written on the back, plus card numbers written on the back.

About a year ago there was a group of T206 sold that had a history of the players on the cards, never won any but thought that was unique and neat.

I have a few with the name Robt Walton Jr. on the back. I purchased them many years ago from a guy in Atlanta. I was told that he was the original owner of the card.
