Default E101 vs. E102

Posted By: mike plemmons

Hi Everyone,
I am new to the board, but already feel that I will catch a lot of heat for this question.

I am under the assumption that the E102 set was actually issued in 1910 rather than 1908. If this holds true, does this mean that E101 set was released BEFORE the E102 set? AND if that is the case- will that affect the values of key cards in the E101 set, such as Cobb?

Yes, E102 appears to be 1910. Yes, it probably will have some effect on the value of cards that were considered to be rookies in that set. The W555 set appears to be later than previously thought, as well.

However, there are so many sets that can safely be dated 1909 that it seems unlikely that one set would gain a bunch of value for rookie card premiums. There are plenty of cards of Cobb, Collins, and others issued in 1909 to choose from.

...this is a little off topic, but you're not going to "catch heat" for asking questions on this board, Bro.

Everyone here loves talking about vintage cards. Anyone asking a question just gives another opportunity for lively and interesting dialogue. It's all good.

Oh yeah...before I forget... welcome.

Jay,

Actually I've been a bit slow to update my site. I have an article I'm writing about this topic - my theroy and opinions. I wish I could track down something on paper. I just need to get it organized.

Thanks for thinking about me.
