Default My Favorite Auctions (non-ebay)

Posted By: runscott

Since I'm quick to criticize the poorer auctions, I wanted to say some good things about my favorite three. Lew Lipset's recent auction was great - I got the stuff and was thrilled. I had a minor problem and Lew was fantastic to deal with and took care of things quickly. The Mastro auctions are always a blast, just for the variety and fun of digging through the catalogs, and Doug is also great to deal with. Finally, although Collectible Classics has only had the one auction so far, I look forward to more - the Burks are also super to work with, and they had some really neat stuff.

The commonality between the three that keeps me going back is obviously that when personal interraction is necessary, it's always pleasant and fair. And this is so important to me, that I don't even open the catalogs of my "bottom two", and it is rare that I bid in other auctions. I don't need hassles.

Amen to those three and I'de like to add Jerry Smolin's auction to the list. Great guy and a nice selection of items.

I haven´t bid on a Barry Sloate auction in a while, but he's a great guy to deal with, not to mention his interest if you need information on any obscure baseball item.

Glad to have guys like him in the hobby.

When S. and S. split up, I don't like them as well. I think this says something about my lack of sophistication with really early stuff.

Least favorite: Festberg.

Of course, I don't see ALL the auctions!
