I almost had the W503 Wally Pipp, but someone else wanted it a little bit more. I'll find one eventually!

It was a pleasure and honor to buy these two Lionel Carter cards from Jay Wolt's personal collection.

Picked up a few T213 Coupons too.

My first Novel Cultery, making it truly novel. Not to mention "sharp." A cutting edge postcard. Also, only one PSA graded.

Yes, the bidder from 2:00 am on, that bid at 30 seconds of each 15 minute countdown, was a real joy.

Good Lord you aren't telling me anything!! I don't know how many times it would break that ten minute, eight minute, two minute thresh hold and I would think, FINALLY, I can go to sleep!! Only to have them throw in a bid and reset the clock, yet again. [QUOTE=sb1;1235576]

Default Goat Curse

I was about to bid on the Wilmington Cabinet - great image - but as a Cubs fan, seeing that goat laying there mocking me I couldn't bring that image into my home. I ended up buying the 1907 mug - lord knows why - I guess it spoke to me.

Great card Val! I went to bed around midnight ET as the high bidder, but wasn't too confident it would hold up. Looks like you were the one who bumped me from the top spot - enjoy that fantastic card!!

Peter & Scott, thanks for the kind words. Scott, FYI, my max bid was higher than what I won this card for. Being a collector who is really turned on by rare/scarce cards, and also being a WaJo card collector, it doesn't get any better than this for me!

Great stuff, guys!

Nice cabinet there, Jeff -- love the billy goat mascot!

Cool Big Train, Val! Based on your comment to John the other day, I wasn't sure if you were targeting the T222 or the Herp. Nice to see you got it.

I actually hadn't looked at this action too carefully and I'm a bit upset I didn't. The price that these two last Pratt's have eventually gone for has surprised me. I think that for $2900 that card is a huge deal. There have only been 18 Pratt's graded. Lets forget this one was graded a "1", what difference does the condition really matter here. There have only been 18 Pratt's graded. If you want to complete the 1914 CJ SET YOU NEED THAT CARD! If I ever get the chance to buy this card again I will not pass it up.

I wonder how long it will be till the next one comes up for sale?
I was the consignor of the 1.5 PSA Pratt in the summer 2013 LOTG auction.
I felt it did very well. I felt the PSA 1 in this LOTG auction did well too.
I saw the PSA 1 card for sale as a lot of ungraded 1914's in a previous REA auction including a Mathewson that I thought went for a steal.
The grade matters, and so do the people who generate, or do not generate the market. Best of luck, Ted

Hey Ted:

You had some very nice cards in Al's '13 summer auction, that Pratt was one of them. It seems to me the price of the Pratt has fallen drastically in the last 18 months as some sets were finished...I only now know guys that are "toying around" with the idea of a 1914 set leading to less competition and that really shows in cards like a 14 Pratt. I wonder what will happen in the future to the card, prices can move very suddenly. Also, next time I will have more money to bid with!

I agree with Ron. It is an honor to have won the Nagy Hughie Jennings from your caramel
great collection. I bid on several of the pedigreed cards and lost post-bedtime but am pleased that so many of them did quite well.
always glad to see you posting. I do pray for and wish the best for you during these difficult times.

Great card, Brama. It was on my target list but the card I won in Goodwin (Zeenut Risberg) tapped me out. Too many great auctions too close together.

I glad you won it.
