Default questions on old ticket and scorecard

Posted By: Alan Elefson

Hi-
Below, please see scans of a ticket from "New York Baseball Club National League" ticket (stub?) and a Boston National League Spaulding scorecard that I found recently. I was wondering if anyone could tell me which New York National League team this ticket is for, and what approximate year it is from (I hope preWWII, but I apologize if it is not. For the scorecard I am wondering what year it was issued, and whether or not it came from a book, or if it is meant to be a stand alone piece. Also, approximate values would be greatly appreciated (I do not feel they are very valuable, as I only paid less than 20.00 for both at a local flea market). Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Also, I cleared this slightly off topic post with Leon to ensure it was legitimate.
Thanks again,
Alan Elefson

If any one knows how, please feel free to shrink the size of my images. I have no idea how to do this.

Default questions on old ticket and scorecard

Posted By: Dan Bretta

The ticket stub is a Giants stub....The Dodgers stubs say "Brooklyn National League Club" on them. It's from the 1940's and has a value of $5-$10 unless you can place this stub with an exact date and something special happened in the game then it could have a lot more value.

The Spalding scorecard is c1930's and usually goes for about $20. Sporting goods manufacturer scorecards were usually sold at sporting goods stores for use in semipro and amateur games. Most of the big manufacturers like Draper & Maynard, Reach, Spalding, Victor Wright & Ditson made scorecards like these and they're great for displays. The one you have here was likely sold in the Boston area. If it were intended for the Braves it most likely would have had a pre-printed lineup in it.
