Bucky helped me coach today. We lost 11-8, but the kids played well considering the jump to a bigger field. We pulled off a double play on an infield fly rule call, nailed a guy at the plate on 8-4-6-2 play and had a straight steal of home when their pitcher and third basemen decided to have a conference without asking for a time out.

Somehow I missed this last wave of pics. Very nice.

Also, that Large Ass Cobb is pretty awesome. Do two large asses prove it as a legitimate variation? I think so. Objections citing paper loss or debris coverage are nonsense. Put it in the books.

Hey Texxx,

If you have never been to Cairns you will love it. I have been there 3 times. The last time was my honeymoon. We were married in Sydney and spent a week just north of Cairns in the town of Palm Cove. I have also been out on the GBR snorkeling 3 times. Even better than scuba diving as some of the companies give you a bit more free reign. Palm Cove and Port Douglas were where they filmed the movie 'Fools Gold' with Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. They were filming while we were there. Outback Steakhouse has nothing on the real thing.

"at the moment?" Who had him all through the holidays?? Who was responsible for Buckys well being and entertainment. I suspect he is being held hostage by someone pretending to be an american male. huuumphh! Probably a pot smoker too!!

My bad guys. I've been holding Buck hostage. He's been having a good time though.

He went to an LSU game (that's my son holding him outside Mike the Tiger's habitat)

He also went to a Saints game (I didn't bring him inside the Superdome b/c I was scared that I would lose him or something... beer and Bucky don't mix).

And I took him to meet an American hero. This is Lester Tenney, a Bataan Death March survivor and author of My Hitch In Hell. Buck, my wife, and I went to hear him speak about his experiences at a lecture at the WWII Museum in New Orleans.

I also have a few more pics but they're still on my phone. I don't know who is next on the list but I'll work on getting Buck sent off to his new home.

I got a PM request from someone that had asked to receive Buck a while back in this thread. So it looks like he's got a new home for now. It sounds like he's got a nice little road trip coming up in the near future.

As much as it saddens me, I sent Buck on to his new home yesterday. I know he's got many more adventures coming up and I'm looking forward to seeing some more pictures of his travels.

Here are a few more photos of his recent stay in Louisiana.

He tagged along with my Dad and I to the opening game of the 2014 LSU baseball season. I have season tickets and know the lady that scans tickets at the gate so she let Buck in without a ticket. VIP status.

And our last outing together was this past Saturday. I took Buck with me to run the Mardi Gras Mambo 15K in downtown Baton Rouge. After the run we stopped by the state capitol (since everyone has been trying to get him with the capitol building in each state). LA's is the tallest and it's not easy trying to get all of that building into 1 picture.

The names of all 50 states and the year that they were admitted into the union are carved into the steps leading up to the capitol building.

Default Map - Travels of Large Ass

So I started plotting out a map of Buck's travels. I think I have all of the locations that he's been to so far and I started adding in pictures that were posted in this thread. If anyone would like to add to the map, feel free to do so.

There is a huge blank spot over there in Asia. Too bad this wasn't going on back in 2006-2007 when I was travelling up and down the west coast of Africa.

This thread is great. Was thinking about trying to get him for an upcoming trip to the Bob Feller museum and Alice Cooper concert in Iowa but I see he has been to Iowa before. Maybe I will try this fall for a trip to Beijing China.
Some great pictures also, my favorite is the under water one.

Well ol' Buck is on the move again. He's been spending some time out west. I've been told that there should be some new photos coming soon. In the meantime, here's the updated map.

Hi all,

I usually just read posts on the pre-War side as I do not collect cards. I like this thread for all of the travels. I do not travel as much as I used to, but I will be going to Switzerland on May 20 for an event at the International Olympic Committee HQ in Lausanne. If this card has never been there I would bring it, but someone would need to clue me in on what to do.

Default Buck's Western Adventures

Never west of Iowa before (if you disregard Seattle and Alaska), Buck heads to California to find out how the West was won.

Buck and I meet with the “Father of the Monster”, Bill Heitman, in Santa Ana for ice cream and card talk. We discuss “Monster” history, the vintage card hobby, the Monster Number Thread and Large Ass participates with his history.

Bill signs my “Monster” book with Large Ass as a witness after finishing his ice cream.

This picture of three hobby icons shows that a good time was had by all. (Well maybe only two icons: Bill and Buck)

Before our trip Buck enjoys Bowling, kicking back and few rounds of Golf.
In late April Buck and I head off on our road trip through the West.

In Las Vegas we catch a PCL game between Tacoma and the Las Vegas 51s.
Buck meets Cozmo, the alien mascot, a real treat and many fans. The 51s win easily 11-4.

After a few days in Vegas (and Buck is quite the ladies man) (but what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas) we head out to the Virgin River Canyon in Arizona.

In Utah Large Ass meets the buttes and goes for a short climb on this beaute.

In Colorado Buck chats about obsolescence with a T. Rex. He really doesn’t want to end up in a museum like this Bad Boy.

We had hoped to catch a game between the Iowa Cubs and Omaha, but it was rained out. Nevertheless Buck works up an appetite through Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota all rainy states, before getting his first meal in Wisconsin.

Buck’s specialty in golf is the short game particularly putting. Here he is lining up a tricky 3 footer.....................nothing but cup.

However Buck trips over the hole on the way off the green. Unable to extricate himself in time, he gets beaned by another putter. Fortunately he passed the concussion protocol before packing his bags.

Buck has opted for an opportunity to visit Switzerland next and then off to Portugal on a separate trip. I will give him some medication to take along so that jet lag from crossing the “Pond” four times is not a problem for him.

It has been a pleasure entertaining Buck, who met a lot of folks along the way. And as we trotted off to the East each day, I could hear the whispers of the local town folks “Who was that Slabbed Man?”

Awesome write up Frank. I heard a member say he might be able to take buck to Switzerland. Buck might like that? Thanks for keeping Buck entertained too.

Leon,

That would be me. I am attending an event at the International Olympic Committee headqaurters in Lausanne, Switzerland on Memorial Day weekend. I am not sure who will be there that weekend, but I do believe the President of the IOC will be present. I will make sure 'large ass' does not eat too much real Swiss chocolat (not a typo - French spelling/pronounciation).
