Default Instiutions holding /buying vintage cards

Posted By: Bill Stone

Earlier this year, while researching the history of a 1910 minor league team, I found a library with a small but significant collection of vintage cards. The Curator knew of my interest and suggested that he had a budget that allowed for the acquistion of additional cards and asked for my help if I became aware of any that fitted the collection. Since the Curator is a baseball historian and I think reads these posts I will leave it up to him if he wants to be further identified---but my point/question is this --- we are all familar with the Jefferson Burdick collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY ,the Library of Congress collection and the Hall of Fame collection --are there other institutions which have holdings of vintage cards and what are their policies on viewing the collections? I would have to believe a lot of smaller regional libraries and musuems are left such things as parts of a general estate bequest and they end up in a special collections department somewhere..This could make a fun summer trip so any ideas would be appreciated.
