Please help me attempt to identify these red sox bleacher tickets

I would throw out $15-20 a piece, but just a guess - these tickets aren't my expertise. What do YOU think they are worth? You have quite a bit of ticket knowledge, more than many on this forum, so surely you must have some opinion?

Sometimes it's easier for folks here to react to and give feedback and validate what people think and why, and then go from there - it's a starting point if you are not getting a response otherwise.

I don't know how long the Red Sox had that advertisement on the back of their stubs (Filene's Men's Store) but I saw that same one on ticket stubs from the early to mid 50's on eBay.

A ticket stub from 1948 had the same ad from a business called Jordan Marsh so that one is probably from late 1940's and the ones with Coleman Bros. are probably from mid-40's.

Search around on eBay and you'll see examples.

I think you are right Dewey. Filene's seems to place the stubs in the 50s (searching around ebay), and it appears Filenes was on stubs all the way to the 70s. Prices seem to be going for no more than $10 for a generic game with nothing special noted.

Stephen - I was going thru my stuff, and recalled I had this program from July, 1953, with a similar stub with a Filene's add on the back. Appears to match a few of the stubs you have shown. Hope this helps some.

YES that does. My initial reaction was $15-$25 a piece. Last night I did some digging with taxes and with the backs etc. I think 2 are 60's the rest are 50's and one is 40's. I started listing up on ebay in lots of 2 and 3's. If anyone is interested I'll work out a deal on them.

these tickets based purely on admission pricing would be in line with MLB admission price increases after WWII pre war almost all MLB teams had $1.10 Grand Stand and .55 cent bleacher before 1945
so these are more likley 1946 -1949 because in the early 1950's average admission price for grandstand was increased to $1.25 in most ball parks
and the tickets with $1 bleacher admission could be late 60's just based on the higher admission price

Interesting. The stub I showed, with a $1.20 price, was stapled to the 1953 program. I took it right out of a scrapbook, so fairly certain it is '53. Funny story about how I got those programs and stubs..

Last year I went to an estate sale, where the online preview pictured boxes of scrapbooks, with a few pages shown that had Yankees programs. I got to the sale early and was #3 on line outside the house. Door opened and #1 and #2 (who were together) made a beeline to the upstairs where there were about 10 boxes full of scrapbooks - each box had about 10 books in it.

#1 and #2 put their hands on a few boxes and said "we got them all". The boxes were being sold of $20 a piece for everything in the box!!. Fine...I was one number too late...BUT then they proceed to open the boxes and look through them. I was like WTF?? Either take them all and go and pay, or move aside while you look through them and let others have a crack at some of the boxes.

I spoke up and they said "we have them all" but still proceeded to dig through the boxes to see what was in them. I was like, F this Sh-T, and took a box and left to pay. Words were exchanged, we got into a bit of a pushing match, but I left with my box. Ended up with a box of scrapbooks that had a couple dozen Yankees and Red Sox programs, some with the stubs attached - all for $20. Turns out the owner was a huge Yankee fan, went to many home and away games with family and friends, and all the programs had notes on who attended the games.

during this time many Big league teams followed suit to some degree
and these prices were approved my MLB and certain tax laws
when you see dated tickets from same year for other teams their prices are very close so you can gauge certain time period if not exact year

I think that you are way overvaluing these tickets. Without an actual date, I think that they are worth a couple of bucks each. Just my 2¢...good luck.

I have seen them sell recently from past auctions going from 10-25.

Where are you getting 2 bucks from?

Look Stephen...they have no dates which means that they have no real historical value other than they are old. If you have seen multiple successful auctions or sales from different sellers, then you might be on to something....which is why I said good luck. You asked for opinions and I gave you mine.

A "tad" older?? 25 years is way more than a tad - that ticket is apples to oranges with what you are selling. Quick searching is showing a lot of sales, with a range of $5 to $20, so you may very well get close to your asking price, but the vast majority of tickets are selling for no more than $10, from what I can see. Stephen...you need to be realistic with yourself. I did the same searches that you did and the 2 examples that you give are not even close to what you are selling. eBay is one of the main price guides that I use but you need to know how to use it effectively. If you do not, you will find yourself over spending when you make purchases and very disappointed when your items don't sell for your expectations.
