Picked this up off of ebay last week and just got it today...it's an advertising standee for the 1896 Spalding Baseball Guide.

I have all of them but bicycling..........(anyone out there?)

p.s. your's is in nice condition. You generally see the bat broken off the top pretty frequently.

The bicycle was on ebay last week and sold for $51. The seller had the entire set on in seperate auctions.

The set of 5 "Spalding Sports Players" is listed as H818 in the ACC.

They appear to be scraps with advertising, perhaps a trade card-- though I don't beleive trade cards were die cut like this. There are 1890s non-sports scraps with advertising on them also. They Spaldings are scarce and, as noted, often found with parts broken off.

All that needs to be said on the set has pretty much been said. They're neat little diecut cards, I recently bought the same one you did with a $40 BIN on ebay . You have to be careful with them though, it is not uncommon for the head or tip of the bat to break apart from the rest of the card.
