Default 1952 Topps mantle.......I wonder........

Has anyone EVER heard of someone that actually found an ungraded 1952 Topps Mantle on Ebay that ended up being authentic ? It's always fun to look at these Ebay ads and see these cards. Most of these cards have gone through hell just to look "aged"

No. But I have to think the chances of that are more likely with a '52 Mantle than with some of these Wagner atrocities I see on eBay and in card groups on FB where the font on the front of the card is wrong, and people still can't be convinced it's fake. "But there's a chance, right?!?!?" Um no, there is not a chance. It's interesting to think about how many of those folks really believe that, or just want you to believe they are dumb because they are trying to scam someone else...

I'm noticing a possible surface wrinkle just to the left of the "M" in his signature. I can't really tell without holding the card in hand.

And as I get older I find wrinkles add character

This made me laugh. Thanks.

I'll include a higher forehead in that assessment of defining character.

Gawd, I used to have great hair. Now I just have a lot more character.

Look what this one has bid on it already. The card is listed as a reprint but yet there are 51 bids on it already totalling over $600 dollars so far.

Maybe it's the fake, no name flip that is fooling everyone?

It will be interesting to see where this one ends but it's looking like it might reach a thousand with over 2 days to go on it.

eBay sent me a note yesterday that the item I had viewed "T206 Honus Wagner with cut signature" (listing as reprint "per eBay rules", but we really don't know...) is now only $700 instead of $1000, which was what I viewed it at.

I would assume most of those bids are shills.

And as Ren (of Ren and Stimpy fame) would say "Fat, bloated idiots"
