Old card thoughts

the great thing about old cards is that we will never know everything about how they were conceived,produced,etc. If you keep an open mind, it will always be an exciting hobby. Who's to say a Joe Jackson t206 proof won't show up at some point? Anyway, I plan to bring some of my more controversial cards to the National - the non-SL'er "not-black" Old Mill, the Reulback "scrap", Matty variations, miscuts, etc., for discussion. Hope others will do the same.

The most disturbing thing I've encountered in the last year, outside of "collectors" who modify their cards and NASA tearing up vintage publications, is people who make blanket statements about old cards that they obviously know less about than they would like us to think.

If I had to choose between going to a 1909 World Series game and spending a day at the tobacco card printers, it would be a no-brainer. Perhaps celebrating with an early 1900's McGraw team after a World Series victory...
