Default H&S Walter Johnson PC and Legendary Mount

Is it me or are these photos the same.

Here we have a WaJo PC according to H&S dating to 1924.

Currently at Legendary there is a mounted photo that according to them dates to 1912.

I don't have the best eye for this kind of stuff so I could easily be wrong, but it appears to me they are the same photo, or at least date to the same period.

Photo of Walter is from the 1912 season but the postcard was most likely produced from it at later date, the two copies I've seen were linked to 1924 and 1925 respectively.

No idea when the Legendary piece was actually created, but saying circa 1912 is fair.

Thanks, that makes sense. I was a little bewildered because Huggins and Scott says the uniform narrows the likeness to the 1924 season. Also didn't know there was another known example.

Understandable... yeah, they got that part wrong. But that's ok, I won the postcard and forgive them.

Nice postcard! I don't know how rare it is, but I noticed that it was written by Pius Schwert, catcher for the Yankees in 1914-15, who also served a couple of terms as a US congressman from New York. He just signed this postcard "Pie" - finding his autograph is a real challenge (ask any Yankee autograph collector!).

Thanks, I thought that was neat too. Jason M sent me this cool article about Mr. Pie.

http://www.buffalonews.com/apps/pbcs...130109686/1057

He wrote his message on Oct 9th, the day game #3 was going to be played before it was rained out. Sent to a neighboring city of the town where he grew up.
