The borders do look a little small, but the corners look ok from what I can tell from only a scan. I think its ok.

I did agree that the borders look small, but the American Caramel Co is not known for its cutting precision!

those familiar with this series know sometimes the top and lower border have angle cuts, but those usually are more "oversized" card instead of undersized "trimmed" cards...

not familar with this issue being overcut or "narrow", if anything a lot are "undercut" meaning they are larger than the majority...

for example:

I agree that the borders look narrow, & that the e90-1 micsuts are usually top/bottom borders. I just think the corners on the Lajoie look like natural wear. Like I mentioned its hard to tell without having the card in hand. Also, I think Bob & the crew at SGC are pretty good at spotting trims. Sure, I could be wrong, maybe SGC messed up, but I think its probably ok IMHO.

I am definitely adding the Lajoie e90-1 to my "special" subset of cards I love - unless perhaps there are other cards with the same pose and coloration for him? Appreciate the help if it comes....

I have to admit those borders, right to left, look really small.

All of you E90-1 set collectors out there- Do ya'll have nice, original examples in your collections that have the l-r borders that small? Top to bottom looks ok, to me....

or tall cards in a set - there are short or thin ones as well - unless the card in question happened to be on one of the outside edges of a sheet.......

This has been in my possession about 40 years, unholdered then as now. Except for the tracheotomy(sp?) they are really alike. What would be the odds of that if one or both were trimmed?

there are e90-1s that skinny that are legit. can't say the same about other e sets but the e90-1 cuts were all over the place.

Thanks for posting that Lajoie. To my eyes yours has a much bigger border, l-r, than the one being asked about...but maybe it's just me?

Here's mine. Borders are similar, though not exact, I'd say.

Finally, an E90-1 thread. happy.gif Borders on this set can definitely vary, although most the time there is more border on them side to side than what that Lajoie has above. One card in particular from the set though that always seems to have slim side to side borders is the Irwin card. Not sure why, but it most defintely is a thin bordered card from the set. I've owned several and all have had the same slim cut. Here's my Irwin that resides in my current set.

Maybe it's the positioning of the specific card ie.. where it was located, when the sheets were cut, that give certain players thinner borders, left to right? I do like some of the more scarce e90-1's....

Some cards in this set are commonly seen with thin cuts L-R, the Baker and Marquard cards being two that are often found this way. As was mentioned, whenever you have "wide" cards, you will have complementary "thin" ones as well. I believe SGC looks pretty closely at these before grading them.

Similar left shift as Paul's. Does appear to be quite a range in card sizes.

A tip on the side to all of you. Check out Tony A.'s E90-1's at SGC. The man put together a smart looking set. http://tinyurl.com/axsv9q

Hello

I noticed the Lajoie's seem to all have LESS left than right borders.
This one has more or less almost even borders(left to right)
Note, there is an enlarged bottom border.

........ and, Henry, the coloring of e90-1 is arguably unequalled.
