Default Does eBay just not care?

Duplicate listings... the same card with two auctions:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1953-Bowman...0/123589037863

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1953-Bowman...0/123587930948

Never mind the shady tactic of listing an 8(OC) as a straight 8, but these are the exact same cards.

I emailed the seller alerting them to the "mistake" and was responded to "Why are you bothering me?". After that response it would seem that the seller did not make a mistake but is intentionally trying to deceive.

To follow-up I clicked on "report item" inside of the eBay listings and filled out their "duplicate item" form. That was Friday and it is now Monday and the items are still listed.

Does eBay just not care that these are duplicate listings?

Buyers beware. This makes me disappointed.

It gets better. He's already reneged on the sale of this card once when he didn't get what he wanted:

Ebay does care.

About their bottom line.

But not about you.

Or about me.

Or about any individual listing. Even if it's a duplicate.

I was on the phone with eBay's "customer service" earlier today, and after listening to excuses about why they couldn't help me with a simple problem, I said, "Do you guys actually care?" The guy on the other end of the didn't address the question, but simply repeated his last mindless excuse verbatim.

If you really want to to save the world, why not bid on it yourself? Then when you win, just refuse to pay. I did that once to a guy selling Diamond Stars as originals. He was not pleased. It was great fun, but it felt just a little bit dirty, so I never did it again.

I'm one of the last people that would defend ebay.....

There's just too much going on at all times. My guess is that in order to really police a lot of the shenanigans that go on, fleabay would probably have to hire a couple thousand people knowledgeable in different collectible areas and able to respond to emails, etc. It doesn't seem like it would take too much but that's a lot of people to hire to play collectibles cop....

I don't know this seller from Adam (heh) but I have occasionally listed the same item twice. When I find out I delete one immediately. But that's just me.

As for the original question: if you have to ask you already know the answer.

Yes but have you ever sold an item 2x, failed to honor the sale both times and THEN accidentally double list it?

Spot on, Doug. I use ebay to reach out to collectors to see if they want to talk outside of ebay! They have made a fortune and do not give a single rip about anything but the bottom line- useless.

Default Back again...

If the first time you try the double listing scam and the card doesn't sell, try it again!

Same seller, same card listed twice, new auctions:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1953-Bowman...0/123603221765

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1953-Bowman...0/123604257657

Definitely not a mistake.

Do you guys realize worldwide eBay has an average of over a BILLION listings a day?

Really sucks that they are not spending night and day looking at baseball card listing like we do but they’re not.

You would think with the technology out their it would be a rather simple program for it to automatically identify duplicate listings, items especially by the same seller.
Hopefully no one gets scammed again by this clown.

Thanks

Currently looking for a 1915 Boston Redsox Team photo postcard with Vane Ruth, or a 1916 Babe Ruth Card, or a PSA 2 or higher 1909 Joe Jackson

While I think it would be wonderful idea, the practicality is much harder than you would think. Just imagine how many sellers have multiple Cal Ripken or Ozzie Smith rookies. Then imagine people selling multiples of a piece of clothing or housewares or a crafts. When you get outside our little collecting world, the distinct of a unique item and multiple listings gets much more difficult.

Sure. They should respond. But they might get a few hundred thousand such reports a day. Just cracks me up when someone posts about a particular item eBay should be monitoring the bidding on and flyspecking every word of whatever it is they happen to be most interested in. Like it’s the only item on the site. Sure. In a perfect world would be wonderful.

Look, we're talking about a company that, several years ago, put a bootleg Peyton Manning jersey on the cover of their Christmas catalog/ad. They used it to tout the low prices of NFL jerseys on their site.

So, no, they don't care.

Almost all of us have been on ebay a long time. I guess this year is 20 yrs for me. SO everyone should know there is only one thing, and one thing only, that matters to ebay. Money. Period. They don't care about partners, sellers, buyers or anything else. You can commit fraud all day long, as long as ebay is making money, they barely care, so it seems.
