I thought I would jump the rails and post about baseball cards.

Since we are approaching the World Series, and Casey Stengel was involved in a few of them, let's see your Stengel cards.

Thanks Bruce......I know the economic news is very troubling and does affect our hobby but it is nice to talk about our hobby.....Stengel had some ties to East Texas too...Everytime I bring up baseball cards with my in laws they always mention that he used to visit East Texas often. I hear he played baseball with a Mr.Randy Moore, of Omaha Texas (pop.800), and when they opened a park there Stengel came to help inaugurate it.... ...regards

In honor of our crummy economy, here's a 1933 letter sent to Casey by the Dodgers, advising him of his impending pay cut due to Brooklyn's bad financial situation.

And although this is not a card of Casey, it's a card that was owned by Casey:

Um. Wow. Vintage cards, scantily-clad Dutch people, uku-zillion penguins, authentic Polynesian maidens, spam musubi and more at . .

Al --great letter --having grown up in Burbank, California I was well aware of Casey's home in Glendale. Since it was the next city over my dad would drive by Casey's house whenever we were in the neighborhood. Thanks for bringing back a fond memory.

Here's another piece from my Casey collection - it's a story, written by Casey, about the first time he faced Walter Johnson. It's one of my favorite things that I have in my collection.
