Default 1955-56 Parkhurst Wrestling #25 Lee Henning Error / Corrected

Haven't seen a thread about this on PSA/CU or Net54, so here goes. Most of the #25 Lee Henning cards I've seen have the error where the words "npathy are amusing" is accidentally left at the bottom of the English text.

Well, the most recently listed one does not have the same text:

I picked it up; PSA does not yet recognize it as a variation, but this one should be pretty obvious to have added. Is it checklisted anywhere?

Thanks for the information.I really never pay attention to things like that.So I checked what cards I have. And from 8 copies of that card .The error/variation seems to be very evenly distributed.4 copies of the error version and 4 without.

COMC has has about an even split, maybe a few more with errant text than without. Their sold out PSA 4 was without the extra text.

Surely it was checklisted before, right? I also notified COMC of the Potato Chip stamped backs and asked them to create it as a new set. There's about 20 of the cards in the set currently for sale there with the Potato Chip back stamp, mostly in Poor condition though.

I have some of the potato chip stamp.Just figure that it would be too hard to do a set of it. So I just keep them separated. Last year I did finally submit enough cards to complete a graded set. Not high grade by any means. I guess if you average all the cards then it works out to be around 4 on average.

I have it checklisted on my wrestling card site, if anyone is going to try to have PSA catalog it.

It is debatable if the Potato Chip backs should be considered their own set, variations, or simply marked cards.

Since the markings are true to the period, and had their own distribution as a food product premium, I am in favor of considing them their own set (such as Desert Shield baseball cards). I would hope that PSA would recognize them as such.

I think the difference here is that someone could make a stamp and then start stamping the regular cards in order to complete a set.....I think we are going to have to leave the stamped backs alone as there is too much chance for fraud.

It would be pretty tough to fake, but yes, anything can be faked.

The cards don't seem to carry too much of a premium, if at all. Especially for the lesser condition ones.
