Negro Leagues cards....

With all the interest being generated this year by the HOF induciton of several newly-research stars from the Negro Leagues, I was wondering if there are any vintage card sets that were ever distributed of these players? My guess is no, given the racism, but I am newer to the collecting of vintage year issues, and would be interested to learn about what sets might be out there...apologies if recent threads dealt with this, I didn't see any

Hey Jason,

There are cards of these guys, but they're mostly from Latin issued sets. cubanbaseballcards.com and cubanball.com are good places to start learning about the sets. Also, a lot of Negro League stars can be found in regional minor league sets, tho it takes some digging. If you go to cubanbaseballcards.com and click the auction link, you'll see an example of a card of every Negro league Hall of Famer who has one, plus Buck O'Neil. Happy hunting.

To give an example, here's my Acebo card of Newark Eagles slugger and 5 time East-West all star Lennie Pearson. This set of cards was issued with matches in Cuba.
