i am with steve and jordan here...

stating it is "improperly graded" is subjective, and an opinion...all you can do it supply large scans, which is what the seller did, and let the BUYER look at the card, and decide for themselves.

My point was that in my Koufax situation the scan the seller provided did not show the paper loss (that is right square between the eyes). It graded a PSA 8. I should not have to worry that a PSA 8 (2K) will come with paper loss. A pin hole would have made the card a 1.

As for the card in question here, it appears that the scan is good enough and no other description is needed.

Steve, sorry to hear that. I can definitely see your point of view. If I were you, I'd be really pissed. I hope you can get it resolved somehow.

Buy the card, not the holder. I repeat, buy the card, not the holder. IMO, the only usefulness of third party grading is an opinion the card is not altered. What would be so bad with a system of holdering a card in a slab that OPINES unaltered. Then, accompanied with a scan of the card, each prospective bidder/buyer can reach his/her own conclusion of the card's aesthetic attributes.

Corey - there are things like surface creases and indents which don't show up on a scan. If all deals were done in person I'd agree with you.

Fair enough point. It just never ceases to amaze me how many collectors regard the number on the slab as an end to itself, completely disregarding the extraordinary subjectivity that goes into assigning a grade, and the fact that one person's 5 could be another person's 6, and vice versa. Not to mention too the subjectivity of the determination of what card attributes to take into account and what to ignore (e.g., the complete disregard of photo contrast in grading OJs).
