Default Missing Model Number on Knob

Can anyone please help me figure out why a bat from the labeling period 1973-1975 would be missing the model number from the knob. I have a Carl Yastrzemski bat everything on it looks legitimate but the model number is missing. Possibly from 1974.

Pictures would be helpful . Without seeing it , I would guess inch marks were removed in an attempt to deceive

Pictures aren't really clear enough but I'll stick with my initial thoughts . You can see a little filing in the middle of the knob -and this era of bats were marked with a single digit for the length and often times , it wasn't very deep so it could be easily removed . Wood quality also doesn't appear to be the best .

I'm sure others will chime in as well .
