I was the biggest Albert Belle fan out there, but I think he falls just short. His best 10 year stretch was HOF material, but his injury took away those 4-5 years of "very-good" that is needed to be a true HOf hitter. He would make the hall of crazy, however.

The one the would really bother me if he makes it is Bagwell. The dude was an obvious juicer, even if there is no "proof" out there.

Randy Johnson is the next one where some stupid sports writer will have to invent a reason not to vote for. He was absolutely awesome. Totally dominating as a pitcher - that 2001 series with Arizona, game 6 the Yankees had no chance whatsoever. 300 wins, perfect game, second most K's ever, played on a ton of winning teams, world series MVP, 5 Cy's.

A quick look at the future ballots, these are the players I would like to see inducted in the next five years:

Randy Johnson
John Smoltz
Pedro Martinez
Craig Biggio
Gary Sheffield
Ken Griffey Jr.
Vladimir Guerrero
Jim Thome
Mariano Rivera
Chipper Jones

Some Veteran Committee selections I wouldn't mind:
Gil Hodges
Bill James
Bud Selig
George Steinbrenner

Hmmm.... Canon - a regulation or dogma decreed by a church council

Perhaps you meant Cannon - a large gun that shoots heavy metal or stone balls and that was once a common military weapon

Either way, I'd vote for Vlad.

When Bud Selig has a better chance of getting into the Hall of Fame than Minnie Minoso, it's hard for me to take it very seriously.

I like Bud, but could not agree with you more!

Put in Minnie and Luis while they are still with us!

What about Mussina? I always felt he was under-valued.

Vincent Edward Jackson. Bo Knows. Stats and longevity don't support, but he was exciting to watch. Better 2-sport star than Deion. And let's not forget, he bulldozed the "Boz".

Also, and I mentioned this in a previous post, Frank Jobe. The inventor of Tommy John surgery.

A healthy debate for sure.

My player picks are in no particular order:

Griffey, Bonds, Clemens, Johnson, Martinez, Raines, Piazza, Biggio, Bagwell, Mussina, Smoltz, Guerrero, Thome, Jones, Rivera, Hoffman, Vizquel with Jeter on deck

As far as non-players:

Bud Selig, Jim Leyland, Joe Angel

Perfect! A guy who understands steroids were part of the game - like it or not.

That said...."no" to Raines, Mussina, Smoltz and, in a perfect world, Selig. He made something like $22 million this year. That's plenty of recognition for the old coot.
