Default Slabbed Reprints

Posted By: Chad

Why does anyone do this? I'm seeing several of the Leland Josh Gibsons for sale on ebay, some of them slabbed by SGC. And they get bids! If I draw some doodles of Babe Ruth on a 3 by 5 inch piece of cardboard, can I get them slabbed by a grading company? The can even stamp "Doodle" on them, as long as they get slabbed. Somebody will buy them, I think. Ach, I'm just crotchety because I got shut out on all the Toleteros' this morning. I guess I'm gnome-ing.

BTW, thanks to JSP for incluing the Gibson reprint for free with my purchases. That was a small, classy touch to the transaction.

You might even get them slabbed with "The Doodler Collection" notation.

Lelands was giving them out at the last Hollywood Park show as advertising for their upcoming auction and as a business card since their contact info is on the back of the card. They were freeeeeee.

Andy

Didn't get one in Canada, even though I got a reminder notice about the auction.

I'll post you my mailing address.

I was just thinking how much I'd like to have one when--poof!--there it was for free with my order. If I do sell it, my tagline will be, "Want to own the world famous Josh Gibson ROOKIE without spending THOUSANDS of dollars!!!!!!!"

That should do it.

Dule note, nineteenth century baseball card buffs, that the Lelands cards are examples of trade cards.

Remember Max, GST and PST is payable on the value, having Andy mark this as a gift will not get you around your obligation. No wonder Lelands never sent you one!
